Mark Sabin is Vice President of the Iowa Northern Railway Company. Mark accepted the position of General Manager with the Iowa Northern on January 3, 1995, following a 23 year career with the former Chicago and Northwestern Railway Company. Mr. Sabin began his tenure with the Chicago and North Western in 1972 as a switchman and Conductor in Mason City, Iowa. Mr. Sabin was then promoted to the Management ranks of the Company in 1978 and assigned a position on the east/west double track territory in Boone, Iowa as an Assistant Trainmaster and later in 1979 to Trainmaster. Mr. Sabin was then transferred in 1980 to the Twin Cities Terminal operations, in St. Paul, MN., where he held positions of Trainmaster and Assistant Terminal Superintendent. Later he was promoted to the position of Transportation Superintendent for the Northern Region.
While in the Twin Cities Terminal, Mr. Sabin led the design and implementation team at the Chicago and North Western for construction, consolidation and implementation of the massive yard rationalization and modernization project. Following the successful completion of the project in 1994, Mr. Sabin was then transferred to Chicago and assigned the position of Director, Commuter Operations. As Director, Commuter Operations, Mr. Sabin was responsible for the daily operation and managing of the Commuter Train operations which consisted of 181 trains per day. Prior to his career in the Transportation business Mr. Sabin attended Mankato State College. Mr. Sabin resides in Clear Lake with his wife Linda.
